Department history
1947 Research Group founded. Various research groups integrated to form R & D Division.
1963 Research building established.
1969 Development Department newly established.
1976 Research Department and Development Department consolidated to form R & D Department.
1990 R & D Department discontinued and R & D Headquarters newly established; a group system is introduced.
1995 As part of the 100 year anniversary event, a new research building is established and a new network system introduced.
   
R & D history
1948 Fused phosphate fertilizer is successfully commercialized and put into production.
1950 R & D of organophosphorus compounds (agricultural chemicals) starts, and sale of organophosphorus insecticides begins for the first time in Japan.
1957 Manufacture of sodium tripolyphosphate starts for the first time in Japan.
1977 Research Department and Development Department consolidated to form R & D Department.
1977 A cuprous oxide product is developed as a pigment for anti-fouling coatings on ships (Patent No. 1061182).
1978 A method of removing air pollution gases is developed (Patent No. 1200715).
The corresponding product continues to be sold today under the name “PureLite.”
1980 A zeolite product with a uniform diameter is developed as an additive for resin (stabilizer and anti-blocking agent). The product continues to be sold today under the name “ZEOSTAR®.”
1980 A zeolite product is developed as a detergent builder.
1981 Development of a special organophosphorus compound utilizing phosphine gas begins (Patent No. 1265182).
The product continues to be sold today under the name “HISHICOLIN®.”
1984 A fused spherical silica product is developed as a material for semiconductor encapsulation resin (Patent No. 1872262). The product continues to be sold today under the name “SILSTAR.”
1985 Manufacture begins of a barium titanate product for electronic materials. The product continues to be sold today under the name “PALCERAM®.”
1987 A red phosphorus retardant is developed (Patent No. 1920423). The product continues to be sold today under the name “HISHIGUARD®.”
1988 A conductive fine particle filler based on electroless plating is developed (Patent No. 1982152).
The product continues to be sold today under the name “Bright.”
1994 A lithium cobalt oxide product is developed as a cathode material for lithium ion secondary batteries. The product continues to be sold today under the name “CELSEED.”
